Work with Adult Families: Learn a Short-Term Therapy Model to Redesign Family Relationships

INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES FOR FAMILY THERAPISTS

The pandemic dramatically increased the demand for family therapists.

Time at home together, separation, and other challenging circumstances pushed family dynamics front and center. Long-ignored issues that were easily avoided in pre-pandemic life were suddenly intensified and spotlighted.

Many families decided it was time to do something about it. Requests for therapists who can work with adult families is at an all-time high!

Pilot Program

SHORT-TERM THERAPY IS AN ENGAGING MODEL FOR ADULT FAMILIES

It’s hard enough to show up with your family for therapy, let alone if you think it’s going to be a long-term open-ended process.

A course of short-term adult family therapy (six to ten sessions) presents a safe framework that not only impacts the whole family; it enriches and accelerates any family member’s individual therapy.

PILOT TRAINING PROGRAM OPPORTUNITY

If you are a clinician and are curious about expanding your practice to work with adult families in targeted short-term therapy, please join me for the pilot, this is a live online training opportunity.

In the four-part program, Work with Adult Families: Learn a Short-Term Therapy Model to Redesign Family Relationships, you will learn:

Phase One: Establishing Foundations of Success

    • Screening families for effective short-term family therapy
    • Building trust and establishing a safe environment
    • How to conduct the early sessions
    • Establishing a family goal
    • Making sure everyone is heard

Phase Two: How to Get the Most Out of a Genogram to Help the Family Shift Problematic Patterns

    • Learn to construct a genogram if it’s new to you
    • Simplify and maximize using genograms as a powerful tool for short-term adult family therapy
    • Ask genogram questions that focus on the dynamics that keep the family’s patterns in place

Phase Three: How to Address the Family’s Presenting Problem

    • Choice points on when and how to intervene
    • Where families get stuck in a loop
    • Who to meet with when: conducting sessions for subsets of family members

Phase Four: How to Engage Everyone in Shifting their Family Dynamic

    • Getting beyond blame
    • Pivoting away from tendencies to fixate on the “identified patient”
    • Redirecting conversations about who’s right and who’s wrong
    • Relating in new ways; charting a new path forward

WHY I AM OFFERING THIS PROGRAM NOW:

The portion of my practice that is devoted to family work has increased dramatically.

Training programs that focus on individuals, couples and parenting issues abound. Family therapy training for working with adult children, their siblings and parents is scarce. Even highly skilled clinicians often don’t feel confident working with adult families.

I want to share what I’ve learned while building a diverse referral network of therapists who will do great work helping adult families.

Whether you are a seasoned therapist with strong clinical skills, or newer to the field and building your practice—having a method and a protocol will give you the confidence to take the leap into adult family work.
